Here Comes The Bus
What is Here Comes The Bus?
Here Comes The Bus (HCTB) is a mobile tracking app that uses global positioning system (GPS) technology to locate and track your child’s school bus through the HCTB app or website.
When you sign up for Here Comes The Bus, you'll see:
- Bus number, bus stop location and scheduled bus stop times
- The real-time location of your child’s bus on a map
- Scheduled and actual arrival times at home and school for bus routes
- Push and email notifications when the bus is near
To sign-up for a HCTB account, parents will need an active email address, the GCS school code (87491) and the student ID number.

The registration code for Guilford County Schools is 87491.
The following items are needed to create an account in HCTB: 1) Student ID number, 2) active email address and 3) GCS School Code (87491). Please note, if you do not have your child's ID number, please contact your child's school. Transportation staff members are unable to provide this information to parents due to privacy issues.
No tracking app is 100% accurate. Do NOT assume your child's bus is not coming if you do not receive notification from the app. If you have a question about the arrival time of the bus, please call the Transportation Call Center.
Bus substitutions and the combining of bus routes can also affect the accuracy of the HCTB app. In these situations, the app may not work properly.
HCTB does not support transfer stops. This app does work for students who have to transfer buses or utilize shuttle points. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working with developers to resolve this issue.
If you need help with the HCTB app, there is a dedicated support team available to answer questions.
