What advice do you have for current students and other youth?

This time in high school is a small chapter in the big story, that is your whole life.  Embrace all the memories, Good AND Bad, knowing that they are building you for the greatness in pages to come.

    My most memorable moment:

My most memorable moment was from track season in my senior year when I was running the 4x2 relays. It was a state track meet, so there were a lot of different schools there running against us. In my particular heat, I was the anchor. The race didn't start too good for us, seeing that our first leg had three people faster than him. By the time it got to me, there were three schools ahead of us, but I was able to get past them and win the relay.

    Quote to Live By:

Know that you will find your own rhythm when you let go of trying to be like everyone else.

    Bio

Sterling B. Freeman is the author and illustrator of “Goodnight, Little Dreamer.” He has always had a passion for creative arts and communication since he was a young child. From an early age, he was exposed to the visual and performing arts, entrepreneurship, and writing. After attending college for design, where he helped creative direct music, media, and animation projects, Sterling discovered his drive to use his experience and talents to inspire others to fulfill their fullest potential, especially the biggest dreamers of all - children. Sterling's active imagination and desire to take action on his dreams began as a toddler, when he auditioned and performed in his first stage production. By middle school, he began to speak in public forums to advocate for his peers. In middle school, he entered his first children's book writing contest for young authors, which was hosted by Piedmont Parent Magazine and sponsored by Barnes & Noble. He was also featured on the local WFMY News 2 as a young entrepreneur for starting a business designing custom art and graphics for clothing: Xpressions - Custom Art Apparel. Sterling created graphic designs for schools and local businesses in his early teens. He was a featured entrepreneur in the high school student newspaper in ninth grade, and his design was featured on the cover of the Student Handbook and hundreds of t-shirts for the graduating class of 2008. A client used his artwork for a children's book bag prototype and patented it. Additionally, his artwork was commissioned, placed on T-shirts, and sold at the opening of Proehlific Park, a sports facility in his hometown of Greensboro, NC. Sterling B. Freeman communicates and promotes positive action for children as a newly published author and experienced illustrator. "Goodnight, Little Dreamer" is the first children's book in the coming Little Light Series, written and illustrated for young creatives and emerging leaders. It aims to keep their minds inspired and their "little lights" shining. Sterling is available for interviews, book signings, and can be contacted to speak at events.
