Ms. Rachel Tucker ♫♪

Hello and welcome to my Simkins Elementary website! I am very excited to be the new music teacher at Simkins Elementary and join the shark family! I graduated from Appalachian State University (Go 'Neers!) in December of 2019 with a concentration in general music education. My primary instrument (the one I studied the most at App) is my voice and while at Appalachian I was very active in the Opera Theatre. I also play the ukulele, (and LOVE to use it in my classroom), piano, and recorder.

 I am very excited about all the music we will be making together this year. I believe it is important for students to think about, move to, create and enjoy making music every time they come to music class. Each week, I begin with a hello song that is not only fun to sing, but also helps students develop many wonderful singing habits. I also think movement is a very important part of music class and I incorporate this into song games and activities each week. My music class is a place where students can create and explore the process of making music and expressing themselves through their music.
