I am thrilled to be teaching art to Grades 4 and 5 at The Academy at Lincoln. This is my sixth year teaching with Guilford County Schools, and my third year at Lincoln. Until I transitioned to education, I worked as an artist/art director in the private sector, and as a community relations manager. My BA is in psychology/studio art and I have a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree. I greatly appreciate the value that self-expression contributes to our positive mental health. Visual art is a universal form of communication that helps us understand ourselves and the world around us. Pablo Picasso said, "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up." I keep this in mind as I work to build confidence and resilience in young artists.
We are going to have a great year in art! I invite you to take a look at the student gallery for examples of the wonderful works created by our young artists in years past. Visit the gallery often as new art will be posted weekly.
I am looking forward to the exciting possibilities that are ahead for 2022-2023!
