The Southwest-area K-8 School will house Guilford County Schools’ first STEM center, a state-of-the-art space that will accommodate elementary and middle school students from the surrounding area. While the land search continues, design and planning is underway.
The project team has consulted with GCS staff and technical experts, including representatives from the Greensboro Science Center and the University of Washington Engineering Department to determine what a state-of-the-art STEM Center needs to provide. The architectural team has taken this input and developed concepts that can be adapted to the site once it has been identified.
GCS staff, parents and community have also been actively engaged in the design process, and the project team continues to prioritize their involvement.
¹Schematic Design is the first phase in the construction process, followed by Design Development, and then Construction Documents.
