The GCS Reopening Task Force tackled many obstacles over the course of the 18 months following school closure. Initially, the Reopening Task Force focused on returning the largest number of students for the greatest amount of time while keeping students and staff healthy and safe, focusing first on the return of the most vulnerable student groups.
Following re-entry planning, the Task Force carefully examined research on learning loss and developed programs to address learning loss including comprehensive summer programs, learning hubs and high-dosage tutoring efforts.
The Task Force also recently helped to inform priorities for the unprecedented ESSER funding to drive program planning.
