• Course Description 

    Spanish for Heritage Speakers I is a course designed specifically for native/heritage speakers of Spanish who have some oral language proficiency. The course will focus on developing, maintaining and enhancing their proficiency in Spanish. The course will sharpen reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills and will allow students to get a better understanding of the nature of their own language and culture as well as others.

    Spanish for Heritage Speakers II Honors is a course designed specifically for native/heritage speakers of Spanish who have some oral language proficiency. The course will focus on developing, maintaining and enhancing their proficiency in Spanish. The course will sharpen reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills and will allow students to get a better understanding of the nature of their own language and culture as well as others.

    Spanish II is a course designed to continue to help students with the language and build vocabulary and grammar for communication purposes, while integrating culture.   The course will focus on building a strong vocabulary base, sharpening reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills using the present, preterite, and imperfect tenses.  The course is designed to help students succeed in the 21st century by being able to use their Spanish in everyday situations.

    Student Expectations 

    Students are expected to complete assignments by the due dates provided by your teacher.  If you experience technical problems or login trouble, please contact your teacher. 

    1. Give 100% effort! No late work will be accepted past 5 days after the due date.
    2. Listen with the intent to understand.
    3. One person speaks, others look and listen.
    4. Never use a translator! Any work turned in that used a translation site will not get any credit.
    5. Zero distractions to both the individual student and the entire class.
    6. Avoid English when you can!

    FAQ’S 

    When can I work on the course?  

    Students may work on the course 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The teacher will issue lessons and assignments. Computer and internet access is required. 

    How much time should I spend on the classes? 

    Time management will be important throughout this course. Each student will learn at a different pace, and the time commitment will be different for all students.

    How do I communicate with my teacher? 

    Students can use the inbox on Canvas, as well as the contact information on the homepage. If a student contacts a teacher during the week, they can expect a response within 24 hours. Students who contact a teacher over the weekend can expect a response the following Monday.
