Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Jennifer Cooper

It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce myself to you as the new principal at Millis Road Elementary. Millis Road has a rich and proud history, and I am honored to be included among its ranks. It is a privilege to serve as your child’s new Principal and I look forward to partnering with you to ensure success with their elementary experience as this is the foundation for greater life outcomes.

I’d like to tell you a little about myself and in the near future, I look forward to being able to meet you in person and share our hopes and dreams for Millis Road Elementary. I started my career in Winston Salem Forsyth County Schools as a second grade teacher at Mineral Springs Elementary. I then transitioned to Davidson County Schools. There I spent the next eight years working as a First and Second grade teacher, Reading Specialist and Response to Intervention Specialist. In 2011, I began my work with Guilford County Schools as a district Literacy Curriculum Specialist. I learned so much in this role yet decided I’d prefer to be at the school level. The next year, I became the Reading Specialist at Johnson Street Global Studies and later their Curriculum Facilitator. After earning my Master’s Degree in School Administration through the High Point University Leadership Academy, I was awarded the Assistant Principalship at Montlieu Academy of Technology where I have served the past two and a half years. I have been blessed with assisting Montlieu Scholars on their educational journeys, ensuring that students and families have access and opportunities leading to improved life outcomes.

I’m excited for the opportunities that this school year will bring. I will start as your principal August 3, 2020 so be expecting to hear from me again soon. As we begin the 2020-2021 academic year, let’s work together to ensure that every student has the opportunity to receive a high-quality education and graduate ready for college, career and life. Go Roadrunners!
