Genius Hour Project: Kellin Foundation Fundraiser
A group of eighth graders at the Academy at Lincoln recently raised $1,079.60 for the Kellin Foundation, a Greensboro-based nonprofit that provides mental health services for teens, children, and adults.
As part of their Genius Hour project, students were inspired by the Trevor Project to investigate how mental health nonprofits positively impact communities, and virtually consulted with McKenzie Stenberg, operations director of the Kellin Foundation, to learn more about mental health services and nonprofit fundraising.
Students then planned, launched, and monitored a fundraiser with incentives for the winning class. Students presented a check to McKenzie Stenberg and Mary Herbenick, Development Director of the Kellin Foundation on Wednesday, November 17th and each student received a drawstring bag with supplies as a thank-you gift. Special thanks to our VS nurture specialist, Will Holland, for his help with facilitating this project!
