- Battle of the Books

-
Battle of the Books is a program that encourages 4th and 5th grade students to read a variety of good books by outstanding authors of children's literature. The elementary list consists of 15 books from many different genres. Included are books that are historical fiction, humor, sci-fi, adventure, mystery, fantasy, and realistic fiction.
Teams from all over Guilford County participate and the competition is held virtually in February.
Preparation for Battle will include reading the books, taking AR tests & notes, and attending after school practices. At those practices we will be reading from the book list, having discussions, and practice battles. Up to 12 students are allowed on the team and the group becomes a strong representation of the excellence at Brooks.
We are now meeting every Wed. after school from 2:25-3:10 pm. Please let Ms. McEnally know if you can't attend: mcenalm@gcsnc.com.
12th deadline: read a BOB book, take and pass the AR test (70% above) by Tues. Dec. 5th. All books need to be read ASAP as we make final decisions about the team.
All of the EBOB books are available in the media center. Thank you PTA!
