Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Sandra Aguirre. I am from Colombia South America. I received my B.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language from University of Valle in Cali Colombia, and my Master’s degree in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language from University of Puerto Rico. I had my first experience as a high school teacher when I was 19. That wonderful experience changed my life and made me study hard to be a great teacher and inspire my students to succeed in their learning of a second language. I have twenty- six years of experience as a teacher. I enjoy so much teaching to my students because teaching is my passion. I love sharing about my country and my culture with my students. I'm an online Spanish instructor in a community college. I love reading a book, dancing salsa and cooking Colombian food for my two boys. Visiting places is one of my favorite things to do with my family, I find very interesting to learn more and more about people, culture, traditions, and traveling is the best way to do it!
¡Estoy muy feliz de tenerlos en mi clase de español, nos vemos pronto!
Expectations for Online Communication (Netiquette)
Communication is very important and I expect my students communicate on civility and a professional and respectful tone. In written communications (email and discussion forums) make sure you are using correct spelling and grammar for English and Spanish. When you email me remember to address to me as Señora Aguirre, and also use some Spanish greetings and farewells to practice your target language.
