Good evening Murphey families! This is our principal, Dr. Jonita Taylor with this week's announcement. First, there will be no school on Monday, January 16 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. day. I hope that you and your family will engage in some sort of community service in honor of Dr. King's legacy. Students return on Tuesday, January 17 and our third, fourth and fifth grade students will be taking their reading benchmark on Tuesday. Additionally, on Tuesday, January 17 our kindergarten first and second grade students will begin reading testing as well. On Wednesday, January 18 our third, fourth and fifth grade students will be taking their math benchmarks.

As mentioned in last week's phone call, we will be doing lots of testing for the next couple of weeks in reading and math. We look forward to the growth that our students are going to share and the opportunity to conference with you all about your child’s academic progress. We will have our second quarter report card pick up on Monday, February 7 between 5 and 6 PM. We hope that everyone will join us that night and pick up your child’s report card and check in with your child’s teacher. Primero no habrá escuela el lunes 16 de enero en observancia del día de Martin Luther King Jr. Espero que usted y su familia participen en algún tipo de servicio comunitario en honor al legado del Dr. King. Los estudiantes regresan el martes 17 de enero y nuestros estudiantes de tercer y quinto grado tomarán su examen de lectura el martes. Además, el martes 17 de enero, nuestros estudiantes de kindergarten de primer y segundo grado también comenzarán las pruebas de lectura. El miércoles 18 de enero, los estudiantes de tercer y quinto grado tomarán su examen de matemáticas.

Como se mencionó en la llamada telefónica de la semana pasada, haremos muchas pruebas durante las próximas semanas en lectura y matemáticas. Esperamos con interés el crecimiento que nuestros estudiantes van a compartir y la oportunidad de hablar con usted sobre el progreso académico de su hijo. Tendremos la recogida de nuestra carta de calificaciones del segundo trimestre el lunes 7 de febrero entre las 5 y las 6 PM. Esperamos que todos se unan con nosotros esa noche y recojan la carta de calificaciones de su hijo y se comuniquen con el maestro de su hijo.
