• Good evening, Washington families,

This is principal Paul Travers with your weekly message.

This week our Washingtonians and their families will have an opportunity to celebrate Read Across America Week with us.

Tomorrow, Monday February 26th, our Washingtonians are invited to dress up as their favorite book character.

Tuesday, February 27th is individual Picture Day. Also, students are invited to wear their favorite outfit and share your favorite book day.

Wednesday, February 28th is Wild About Reading Day. Washingtonians are invited to wear animal prints. SAS Clubs for Thursday are Hip-Hop Dance, Sign Language, and Football.

Thursday, February 29th is Team up Thursday. Washingtonians are invited to wear our school colors (neon yellow and navy blue). The Greensboro Symphony Woodwinds will be performing for our 3rd and 4th grade student.  We will also conclude our Black History Month Celebrations with Community Reader Day.

SAS clubs for Thursday are Tiny Tastebuds and Fairytales in Action.

Friday, March 1st is Donut Stop Reading Day: Students are invited to wear their favorite food shirt and parents are invited to join their student for breakfast and reading in the media center from 7:30 am and 8:30am.

Your weekly health and wealth tip for this week is: Bodyweight exercises are great for building strength without needing equipment. Examples include squats, lunges, push-ups (modified on knees or against a wall if needed), planks, and animal walks (bear crawls, crab walks).

As a reminder next Tuesday, March 5th is a Remote Learning Day because of our school being a voting site. Students will be taking their devices home and accessing learning through Canvas.

At Washington we Honor Community, Show Excellence and Think Critically.

Have a great evening, and I’m looking forward to getting 1% Better Everyday this week with you.
