Good evening, Washington families,
This is principal, Paul Travers with your weekly message.
I hope that all of our Washingtonians are having a great spring break!
It was great to see the many adventures our Washingtonians took this spring break. If you haven't had a chance, please visit our schools Facebook page to see the student video entries for the 150th Destination Wednesday contest.
As a reminder, there will be no school tomorrow as it is a teacher workday. School will resume for students on Tuesday, April 2. We will open the doors for students to enter the building at 7:25 AM and instruction begins at 7:45 AM.
On Tuesday, April 2nd, our golf pathway will take their afterschool trip to the Gillespie Park golf course to continue with their golf lessons.
This Wednesday, April 3rd is our 150th Destination Wednesday. I would like to thank all Washingtonians, who participated and submitted a video. For morning announcements on Wednesday, these winners of our contest will join me at the surprise location. The winners of our 150th destination Wednesday contest are: Timothy, Liliana, Kieth, Hannah, Siarah and Daniel.
On Thursday, April 4th, our fourth and fifth grade students will be taking their third and final ELA, interim assessment.
On Friday, all of our Washingtonians will have a chance to shop the Wildcat Den with their Washingtons earned in the common areas.
Your weekly health and wellness tip for this week is: Spring brings a bounty of colorful produce. Involve your kids in picking out these colorful items at the store or farmer's market. Then, get creative in the kitchen! Make a rainbow kabob with fruit chunks and cheese or arrange a colorful veggie platter with a fun dip. Not only is it visually appealing, but it exposes them to a variety of healthy options.
Looking ahead to next Tuesday, April 9th, third-quarter report cards will go home. We will have our third-quarter award ceremonies on April 11th.
And mark your calendars for two Saturdays from now on April 13th at 9:30am, for our annual Washington Wellness Run. This will be an opportunity for students to test their speed and endurance as they get out and run in a 1-mile race at our school.
At Washington we Honor Community, Show Excellence, and Think Critically. Have a great evening and I'm look forward to us getting one 1% Better Every Day this week.
