Transportation Window Opens for the 2024-2025 School Year

  • The registration window for school bus transportation for Guilford County Schools (GCS) is now open. All students who need to register or will have a change of address this fall can register here.

    • Families should complete the Transportation Preference Form if:
      • They are new to GCS. Their family has moved or there has been a change in address for the student.
      • Their student has changed schools.
      • Their student was signed-up for transportation last school year, but never rode the bus or stopped riding the bus.
    • Families do not have to complete a new Transportation Preference Form if all transportation information from the previous school year (i.e. school, morning pick-up location and afternoon drop-off location) will remain the same.

The transportation department utilizes six modes of transportation. Factors used to determine which modes are assigned include but are not limited to, program location, student ridership, staff availability, etc.

This fall, several important changes will go into effect that parents need to be aware of and plan for.

New and current students at the following 25 schools will need to re-register for transportation due to high numbers of non-ridership.

While more than 40,000 students registered for transportation last year, only 29,000 students currently ride the bus.

Additionally, newly admitted Early/Middle College at GTCC students or current students whose home address has changed will only be provided transportation based on their home school attendance zone. The new transportation service zones can be found here.

Current Early/Middle College at GTCC students with an assigned bus stop and those who do not live in the mentioned zones will retain their transportation through graduation unless they move.

Register now to ensure your student has a ride on the first day of school!

The Transportation Preference Form should NOT be completed for students who qualify for special transportation.  Special transportation is a related service for students who require specialized accommodations and/or equipment to travel to and from school.  Families who qualify for special transportation should contact the EC School Support Coordinator at your child's school for any transportation requests or changes.
