• Good evening, Washington families. This is Principal Paul Travers with your weekly message.

Thank you to all the Washingtonians who showed up for our Washington Wellness Run. We had a great time getting active and racing around our campus.

This week, our Washingtonians in kindergarten through fifth grade will be taking their NWEA assessments.

On Monday and Thursday of this week, select fourth and fifth graders will stay after school for tutoring.

On Tuesday, our golf pathway students will be taking a field trip to Gillespie Park Golf Course to compete in their final day of golf for this session.

On Friday, our first graders will be taking a field trip to the Haskins House at Battleground Park, and our Running Pathway students will be taking a field trip to the Aggie Classic Track Meet at North Carolina A&T State University.

Your weekly health and wellness tip for this week is: The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that children over six get at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day. Getting outside and active is one of the most uplifting mental health tips for kids.

Looking ahead, next week is Career Readiness Week, and our violin students will be taking a field trip to UNCG.

At Washington, we honor community, show excellence, and think critically. Have a great evening, and I look forward to getting one percent better every day this week.
