What is the cost of participating in GCS Flex? 

Homeschool students are welcome to enroll in GCS Flex free of charge. College courses and other specialized courses may come with a small fee for class materials and books. Please contact your assigned high school for more information.   

How do I enroll in GCS Flex? 

Go to www.gcsnc.com/enroll. A representative from School Counseling Services will contact you afterward to complete your schedule.  

Can GCS Flex students participate in athletics? 

Yes. The High School Athletic Director will determine eligibility. For more information about athletics, please visit www.gcsnc.com/athletics. 

How can I schedule a school tour and/or a meeting with the school?  

Families interested in learning more about their assigned school can call the front office to set up an appointment.

Do homeschool families get to choose their classes? 

Yes. In alignment with the school’s master schedule, homeschool families can choose the classes that best fit their needs and schedule. Note that there may be limited seats available for high-demand classes; others may require prerequisite courses.  

Can a homeschool student take classes in the second semester? 

Yes. Homeschool students can take classes in the second semester if they have taken classes in the first semester. 

Is my child eligible to enroll in advanced CTE courses Weaver Academy?

No. Students will be able to enroll in our comprehensive high schools and may take classes online through a GCS platform or at Guilford Technical Community College through the Career and College Promise program (tuition is included, but transportation and books are not included).

Can my child earn a GCS diploma?  

Yes. Homeschool students can earn a GCS diploma if they become full-time students and meet all graduation requirements.  

Is GCS Flex available to elementary and middle school students?  

GCS Flex is only available to homeschool high school students.  

Is transportation provided?

No. Transportation services are provided for full-time GCS students who apply for transportation, where applicable. 

How is discipline handled?

Discipline for GCS Flex students will be handled as it is for all other GCS students.
