• Good evening, Washington families,

This is Principal Paul Travers with your weekly message.

It was great seeing many of our Washingtonians out last Thursday at Open House.

I look forward to seeing all our Washingtonians tomorrow for the 1st Day of School.

We will welcome students in the building at 7:25am. The school day will start at 7:45 AM. students who arrive after 7:45 AM must be accompanied to the front door with a parent who will sign them in.  If your Washingtonian is a car rider, you will enter the car rider line on Hargett St., and loop up around our top court. We will have staff outside ready to greet you and get your Washingtonian in or out of the vehicle. For tomorrow and Tuesday only, we will start our dismissal process at 2:00 PM. On Wednesday we will dismiss at to our regular dismissal time of 2:30pm. Starting dismissal early tomorrow and Tuesday will help us get our procedures and processes in place. Please be patient with us as we are working to get all our Washingtonians out of the building safely. As a reminder please do not attempt to exit your vehicle and walk up to the car rider line. Please remain in your vehicle and wait patiently as we work to get all of our Washingtonians out safely.

Kindergarten families, we welcome you walk you Washingtonian into the building tomorrow only for the first day of school. After Monday, please feel to walk your Washingtonian up to the front steps and let them walk into the building independently. We will have plenty of staff ready there to help them get acclimated to entering the building and getting into their classroom.

Bus Riders: Grown-ups need to go to the bus stop with their children 10 minutes prior to the assigned arrival time and stay with their child until the bus arrives. (be patient, routes are new, some drivers are new, and this is DAY 1 of school). After the first week, grown-ups must continue to stay at the bus stop with any child in Kinder, 1st or 2nd grade.

Your weekly Health and Wellness Tip for this week is: The start of a new school year can be exciting but also stressful. Maintaining good nutritional habits can help you stay focused, energized, and healthy throughout the school day.
