  • "During an emergency meeting Monday, the Guilford County Board of Education approved Superintendent Sharon L. Contreras’ plan to relocate the three schools most severely affected by yesterday’s storms to new locations for the remainder of the year.

The new locations were selected to enable the entire school community to move to one location, rather than to be split up among multiple schools. As part of the plan, Hampton Elementary students will relocate to Reedy Fork Elementary, Peeler Elementary will relocate to Bluford Elementary, and Erwin Montessori will relocate to Alamance Elementary.

Each of the receiving schools has the capacity to receive all of the students who are being displaced due to extensive storm damage at their current schools. Transition teams are now working on the logistics of moving furniture, technology and instructional materials and arranging for transportation, food and scheduling.

The district hopes to have students back in school as quickly as possible. Given the detailed planning and logistics involved in relocating entire schools within another school, it is possible that Hampton, Peeler and Erwin Montessori may reopen later for students than other district schools." -GCS Headlines
