Weekly Announcements

  • Falcon Families!

I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to our amazing students, staff and families for their support this week while we worked through our ongoing water issues. In cooperation with Guilford County Schools and the City of Greensboro, water lines leading to the school and on the school, property were flushed to remove discoloration in the lines. The discoloration was the result of construction activity in the water system, which stirred up sediment in the lines, but the water remained safe for drinking and other uses. Guilford County Schools conducted bacteria testing on Thursday, September 12, and City laboratory staff tested multiple sites at both schools for disinfection, pH and nitrates on Friday, September 13. On Saturday, September 14 the bacteriological testing came back and the water at SE Middle and High was absent of bacteria.  All sampling results comply with EPA drinking water quality standards.

Families, protecting the health and well-being of our students and staff is our priority, and we are committed to keeping you informed as we work through this matter. On Monday, we will resume using sinks, water fountains and our cafeteria will be operating as normal.

    Updated COVID-19 Guidance

Per CDC recommendations, the Guilford County Public Health Department has issued the notice below for updated COVID-19 isolation recommendations. Most specific to GCS is that the isolation period for those who get sick has been reduced to isolating at home away from others until 24 hours after symptoms improve and fever subsides without the use of medication. After isolation, the individual should continue with enhanced prevention strategies for the next five days, such as wearing masks, maintaining distance, and improving hygiene and air quality.
