  • Hello Hornet Nation!

Families, we have all shared with each other how difficult this year has been.  But as a Hornet Nation, we have collectively worked together during this pandemic to provide the best experience possible for our students.  As educators and parents, we know that he unfolding COVID-19 crisis has placed unprecedented demands on all of us. Thank you for your hard work, commitment, and dedication through this crisis.  We are working with GCS again to collect data from our families to help understand the ways schools and families worked together through this difficult time. We were grateful for the support and response we had last spring and are looking forward to learning more about how the 2020-2021 school year evolved.  I am asking that you complete the survey linked here.   https://unc.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3jYmnSuQiEeOrQO   We are certainly competitive and want to lead the way in responses from students and families – thank you for taking a moment to complete this survey and help us grow!

  • 10th graders are scheduled to take the PreACT on Wednesday, April 21st in person at Western Guilford High School. Note that this date has changed from the originally scheduled date.

Please indicate your plan for taking the PreACT by completing the form here by Friday, April 16th: bit.ly/WGHSPreACT2021

The PreACT is a multiple-choice test with 4 sections that gives a predictive score for the ACT. The ACT is a college entrance exam that students take as 11th graders. Your student's PreACT score helps us better prepare your student for the ACT. Find more information about the assessment, its benefits, and test timing here

If you have any questions about the assessment, email our Curriculum Facilitator at mccleas@gcsnc.com or call the school (336-316-5800).

  • GCS to Streamline Arrival Process with New App

GCS plans to streamline the health-screening arrival process at all middle and high schools with a new platform beginning Feb. 22. State public health protocols require all schools and offices to check temperatures and ask COVID-19 related screening questions prior to or immediately upon building entry.

The new platform allows parents/guardians to certify that students are healthy by answering the required screening questions using any computer or mobile device prior to boarding a school bus or arriving at school.

Reminders for Parents as GCS Students Prepare to Return

As middle and high school students prepare to return to GCS schools starting next week, here are some helpful reminders for parents.

    · Families must complete the Safety iPass health screening before entering the school building. Temperatures will be taken at school during the entry process. Click here for more information.

    · Students are expected to wear a face covering at all times while on campus, except while eating. Face coverings should be clean and at least two layers.
