Welcome to Fifth Grade!

Hello! I am Mrs. O'Connell. I have been teaching in the GCS system since 1998. I received my bachelors and master's degrees from Greensboro College. I am also a National Board Certified Teacher. I have two children, both of whom attended Joyner for K-5th grade. My 20 year-old daughter is in her 3rd year at App State and she is also in the Army Reserves/ROTC. My 17 year-old son is a senior at Eastern Guilford High. My husband is a science teacher at Eastern Guilford High. 

I believe that all children have talents and abilities unique only to them. It is my responsibility as a teacher to use these talents and abilities to enhance the learning of all students. I have very high expectations for my students and hope that students and families have high expectations for me as well. My mission for the class is for each child to learn and have fun doing it. We will follow our rules every day to ensure success and safety for everyone!
