Welcome to 3rd Grade!

Hello! I am Mrs. O'Connell. I have been teaching in the GCS system since 1998. I received my bachelors and master's degrees from Greensboro College. I am also a National Board Certified Teacher. I have two children, both of whom attended Joyner for K-5th grade. My 22 year-old daughter just graduated from App State and is a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army. She will be attending the Elon University Physical Therapy Doctorate program for the next three years. My 19 year-old son is a sophmore at the University of Tampa and plays baseball. My husband is a science teacher at Eastern Guilford High. 

I believe that all children have talents and abilities unique only to them. It is my responsibility as a teacher to use these talents and abilities to enhance the learning of all students. I have very high expectations for my students and hope that students and families have high expectations for me as well. My mission for the class is for each child to learn and have fun doing it. We will follow our rules every day to ensure success and safety for everyone!
