Philosophy of Teaching:
Every classroom presents a unique community of learners that varies not only in abilities, but also in learning styles. My role as a teacher is to give the children the tools with which to cultivate their own knowledge. To accomplish this goal, I will teach the needs of each child so that all learners can feel capable and successful. I will present curriculum that involves the interests of the children and makes learning relevant to life. I will incorporate themes, projects, group work, individual work, and hands-on learning in order to make students active learners.
Bio:
I am a native of Greensboro and graduated from Greensboro College with a BS in Art Education. I am in my 26th year of teaching and my 34th year of coaching. I was NGMS's athletic director for 12 years and I am the Varsity assistant softball coach at NGHS. I love what I get to do as an art teacher here at Northern middle school. It truly is a great place to come to work every day! I have a dog named Ethel who is pretty awesome if I do say so myself and she and I love to go on squirrel chasing adventures when I am not here at NGMS!
