Hello! My name is Linda Wright! I hold a Masters of Education degree from UNCG and am National Board Certified. I have been working at Jesse Wharton Elementary School for 19 years and have taught kindergarten and second grades. I am very excited about students learning with cooperative groups using hands on interactive materials! I enjoy learning about student interests and try to find a way to incorporate some of their interests into the classroom! Students complete in classroom contests to promote learning! They work in small groups to discuss ideas, defend thoughts and clarify misunderstandings. Students are encouraged to use the various optional resources to review learning at home. These resources include: SumDog, Zearn, Raz Kids, and Xtra Math. Weekly emails are sent to parents to keep them aware of classroom events, and topics of study. Parents are also able to be members of a grade level and class Facebook page that helps keep the communication open.
A great place to practice math facts! Students race the teacher and try to beat their past score. This is a terrific site to help students learn math facts quickly! Learning basic math facts is very important for students as it allows them to focus on the complexities of the math problem as they get older and not on the math fact.
