The Kearns Academy at Central is open to all Guilford County High School students. We encourage all middle school students to apply, particularly those who are interested in Computer Science or Information Technology(IT) pathways. While our largest enrollments each year are rising 9th graders, we also take a small number of upperclassmen.

Students who would benefit from a small school setting where teachers and administrators get to know each young person by name are strongly encouraged to apply. Academic success is extremely important, and students with grades in core classes of at least C may make good candidates for our school.

9th and 10th grade Academy students take high school courses on our campus and in the junior year, many students begin taking college courses at GTCC. Many of these courses are transferrable to four-year colleges or universities within the UNC system. Our goal is for students to graduate in four years with a high school diploma, earn an industry certification in the Computer Science or IT pathways and obtain transferable college credit.
