WELCOME TO AN EXCITING 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR.
My name is Ms. Minerva Current. I am your Family Consumer Science Teacher and I teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. I have been teaching 26 and 1/2 years.
I am a graduate of City University in Seattle, Washington and Virginia State College in Petersburg, VA. The best part of teaching is working with so many diverse students and colleagues from all over the country.
I am looking forward to getting to know each of you and having an amazing school year.
6th Nutrition & Wellness
TModule 3 Nutrition and Wellness
This module is designed to teach basic kitchen techniques, skills, and resources needed to design and make healthy food choices. Emphasis is on essential nutrients, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) dietary guidelines, basic kitchen tools, meal planning, and preparation.
7th apparel/Interior Design
Module 6 - Apparel Design
This module is designed to teach basic skills and techniques needed in apparel. emphasis is on clothing choice, the elements of design, and basic construction techniques.
Module 7 - Interior Design
This module is designed to teach the basic skills and techniques needed in Interior Design. Emphasis is on the principles design, sustainable design, and management of living space.
8th Grade Personal Finance/Food Service & Hospitality
Module 2-Personal Finance and Resource Management (EverFi's Future Smart/ Vault TM)
This module is designed to teach basic financial literacy and resource management skills. Emphasis is on financial responsibility and decision making, planning and money management, credit and insurance, risk management, saving, and investing. EverFi's Vault TM Financial Literacy certification is available.
Module 4- Food Service and Hospitality (NC eFoodhandler TM)
This module is designed to teach basic food safety and sanitation, culinary techniques, and skills needed in the foodservice and hospitality industry. Emphasis is on safety and sanitation, culinary techniques, and hospitality. The NC eFoodhandler TM certification is available.
