Welcome to Core and Construction Sustainability. My name is Mr. Dixon and I have been at Weaver for 10 years. Below are the classes I teach:
In this class, we learn the basic concepts of the refrigeration cycle, how to bend, swage, and flare copper tubing, thread gas pipe, intro to cooling with basic troubleshooting, intro to heating with basic troubleshooting.
In this class, we learn the basic fundamentals of electricity, Ohm's Law, NEC Code book, and how to bend conduit. In the lab, we run small circuits along with how to wire devices (receptacles, switches, lights). There is a small house on campus that the class roughs in and trims out.
*****Core and Construction*****
This is a prerequisite class for the construction cluster, which include the classes mentioned above. This class covers basic safety, construction math, hand and power tools, construction drawings, communication skills, employability skills, and material handling. The class will also look into going green. Projects in the class include building a foot stool and birdhouse, along with other small crafts.
