Mr. Keith Taylor
Department Head, on staff since the fall of 2007
Mr. Taylor returns to Weaver with more than thirty years experience in the classroom and on the stage. In the past several years he has earned his Masters degree (in Theatre Education) from UNCG, certification in Advanced and Intellectually Gifted education, and National Board Certification.
He taught previously in Gaston County where he also taught in their new teacher induction and mentoring program, Commissioners’ School of Excellence, and served as a Pinnacle technology leader and trainer. He has had a wide range of theatre experience as actor, director, designer, playwright, and stage manager. His diverse resume includes experience with both classic and modern theatre, opera, musicals, television, and film, as well as working with churches to produce theatrical events and integrate drama into weekly services. He has worked with traveling drama teams, the BALD KNOB Passion Play, and helped found a community theatre.
Favorite credits include Anastasia: The Musical, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Zombie Prom, The Diviners, I Never Sang for My Father, Pippin, Shrek, the Musical, Urinetown, and The Curious Incident of the Dog In the Nighttime. Mr. Taylor served as President for the North Carolina Theatre Arts Educators for nine years and now functions as President Emeritus. He is currently seving on the board of The North Carolina Theatre Conference (NCTC).
Mr. Taylor was named the American Alliance for Theatre & Education (AATE) 2008 Theatre Teacher of the Year'
the 2014 NCTAE (North Carolina Theatre Arts Educators) Theatre Teacher of the Year,
and inducted to the ITS (International Thespian Society) Hall of Fame in 2020.
