Welcome to the Northeast Health Information Technology (HIT) Academy.
Health Information Technology is technology applied to the field of health care and health care management. Currently there are 20 students enrolled in the academy. Our academy is working in partnership with Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) in order for our students to enroll in HIT courses while earning their high school diploma. Students in the HIT academy have the opportunity to enroll in and successfully complete 4 online courses and earn a HIT certificate. These course offerings include: HIT 110, HIT 112, MED 121 and MED 122. There are currently 9 juniors enrolled in HIT-110, and it is the goal of the academy to have all 20 students enrolled in one or more courses during the 2018-2019 academic year.
We will be accepting applications for the 2018-2019 academic year beginning Monday, February 5th. Applications will be accepted from all eligible 10th graders. The last day to submit a completed application is February 28th. All students who submit a completed application will be granted an interview during the month of March, and acceptance letter will be delivered to students in April.
