Welcome to Health Sciences. I look forward to having you in my class and want to congratulate you for choosing Health Sciences as a way to prepare for your future. My name is Theresa Austin and I’ve been a Registered Nurse for 29 years, Owner/ Director of a Child Care Center for 25 years, and 2020-21 is my 12th year teaching.
In the medical field, there are many opportunities. Not everyone in medicine is a doctor or nurse. Each student will learn about career options. The classes taken may lay the groundwork for future occupations. Students will learn medical terminology and about the anatomy and physiology of the human body (what it’s made of and how it functions). Studying is essential. Lessons are real, rigorous, and relevant for success.
I encourage students to join Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), which is our national organization for Health Science Education Students. There are programs and activities which will further strengthen the development of leadership skills.
Parental involvement is the most significant part of the many parts necessary for students to be successful in their academic endeavors. I look forward to serving both your student and you this year. Please feel free to contact me via email at austint3@gcsnc.com, or at school at 336-334-3662.
I anticipate we will have a wonderful learning experience. Thank you very much.
