Brooks Global Studies is a community where students grow academically and globally. As a staff, we strive to build global citizens, students ready to engage in a 21st Century world. Each year, our school uses global themes as a vehicle to deliver global instruction. This year, our theme is Growing Together. Each month, we will engage in special activities to learn more about global agriculture. Below is the 2018-19 monthly calendar that shows our global theme in action.

AUGUST: PLANTING SEEDS
Classes/Grade Levels will adopt and prep beds for planting. What is your goal for the year? Plant class time capsule!
SEPTEMBER: DIGGING IN
Our children will have the opportunity to study what grows in the USA vs. in their continent of study!
OCTOBER: HARVEST CHALLENGE
Students will learn about harvesting food and the tools they use around the world! Students and their families will learn together with a Family Challenge Bingo!
NOVEMBER: LUNCH AROUND THE WORLD
All classes will compare and contrast “What’s for lunch?” in the United States and countries from their continent of study!
DECEMBER: FEEDING OUR COMMUNITY
Brooks students will sponsor a canned food drive!
JANUARY: FARM TO TABLE
How can we make friendship soup?
FEBRUARY: GROWING GLOBAL LEADERS
Students will study about important leaders in agriculture!
MARCH: ONE SCHOOL, ONE BOOK
All students will read and participate in activities around One Hen by Katie Smith Milway!
APRIL: FOOD IS EVERYWHERE
School wide compost day! Students learn food is not just for eating!
MAY: GROWING OUR GLOBAL COMMUNITY
Students will represent their continents of study as they participate in the International Festival!
JUNE: ENJOYING THE FRUITS OF OUR LABOR
Students will celebrate the end of year and dig up their time capsules!
