Welcome to the Jamestown Elementary computer lab. My name is Mrs. Medlin and I have worked with Guilford County Schools since 1985. I left for two years and realized my passion was working with children. I returned back to GCS and love my job. I look forward to each year watching the students grow and learn. We as the staff talk about how this is our home away from home. We truly mean this and care for each individual child that attends here with us.
The students get to come to the lab every other week. The lower grades work on RAZ-Kids, a reading program that they can earn stars on for reading and answering questions. The kindergartners and first grade work on Starfall as well. Our second graders work on Sumdog, which is a math program we use. All three of these websites can be accessed from home. The upper grades work on Study Island that their teachers assign them work on. It has math, reading, and science that goes along with what they are working on in class. The object is to get blue ribbons on their assignments.
The computer lab is available for teachers to bring their classes to do AR tests, and research in as well. There are ThinkPads that the classes can sign out to use in the classroom when the lab is being used. The staff at Jamestown does a super job integrating technology in with their classroom lessons.
