Ms. LaTrice Stokes

Greetings Brightwood Family! 

   My name is Ms. LaTrice Stokes. It is with great pleasure and joy that I serve as the proud principal of Brightwood Elementary. I was born in Baltimore, Maryland, but raised in small town called Rose Hill, NC. Rose Hill is the home of many NC landmarks, including the World's Largest Frying Pan and Duplin Winery. I am the youngest daughter to the Late LaVern and Linwood Stokes. 

        I am a proud two-time alumna of the prestigious North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. I received a BS and MS Degree in Elementary Education at NCATSU. I earned a Master of School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I am a serving member of Destiny Christian Center here in Greensboro, NC.  As a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, I aim to inspire, motivate, and support the aspirations and achievement of the youth in our learning community. 

      When I am not at Brightwood Elementary School, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful daughter LaVerne Stokes who is a pre-school teacher at Early Childhood Center and my four-legged son Oreo Stokes. Even though I do enjoy spending time with my two lovely children, I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends shopping, traveling and celebrating life. 

     I am super excited about being a member of the Brightwood Family. I have been in education for the last seventeen years. I have served as an Elementary School Teacher, Elementary School Curriculum Facilitator, Elementary Assistant Principal (Bessemer Elementary School) and Middle School Assistant Principal (Otis L Hairston Middle School). 

    As a learning community we are working together towards excellence, by believing in what we do!
