Wenalyn Glenn, Assistant Principal

Meet our Assistant Principal, Wenalyn S. Bell Glenn. A dynamic coordinator, teacher, innovator, and problem solver with more than eleven years of experience in accomplishing goals through effective communication; motivated, hardworking, reliable, and productive leader with proven ability to deliver high-quality work and excellent satisfaction. Wenalyn has been opening the door to personalization at Hairston Middle, Lincoln Academy, Mendenhall Middle, and Guilford Middle. Prior to this role, Wenalyn served as a middle school ELA teacher and a Literacy Coach for Guilford County Schools. Wenalyn has trained 1,700 middle school teachers in best practices and instructional pedagogy. Deployed 17,000 android-based tablets to Guilford County Middle School students to support the 1:1 technology integration. Presented at the NC DPI Collaborative Conference on Student Achievement on Personalized Learning with the session title of “You Are What You Teach”. She was showcased in the READY Common Core Success Magazine for implementing school-wide End of Grade Prep lessons with the prep workbooks. Increased student reading at grade level by 20% by developing a grade level Interdisciplinary Unit (R.I.C.H.H. - Reaching Interdisciplinary Challenges with Helping Hands) to provide a comprehensive approach to implementing the curriculum through all core content areas to reach End of Grade goals of the school and district, leaving Hairston Middle School as one of the 16 Most Improved Schools in the district. She reduced student discipline on grade level rate by 2% by implementing student discipline program titled “C.S.I.: Conducting Student Improvement”. Wenalyn was an EVASS Level 5 Teacher for 3 consecutive years, 57% of students made expected growth on their Reading End of Grade Tests. Coordinated a magnet showcase entitled: The Evolution of Poetry bridging the global gap between parents, students, and the community. She was the recipient of the first ever Otis L. Hairston Leadership Award. Wenalyn’s passion is committed to building a nurturing, caring, and student-focused educational environment to maximize learning experiences. She is a graduate of North Carolina Agriculture and Technical State University and Grand Canyon University. She has a BA in Professional English, a MS in Secondary English Education and a M.S in School Administration.
