Hello and welcome! My name is Chloé-Marie Zuleta and I am honored to teach 6th grade social studies here at the Academy at Lincoln. While I am originally from Marietta, GA by way of Omaha, NE, I have lived here in the Triad since 2005. This year marks my eleventh year working to educate students - and my tenth in Guilford County Schools. I received my undergraduate education at Emory University and High Point University where I graduated summa cum laude with a degree in History. I was also honored as the Outstanding Senior in History by the history department faculty. I continued my education as a fellow at Wake Forest University and received my Master's in Education in 2010. In addition, I recently continued my educational journey at Elon, where I received my post-graduate certification in Academically and Intellectually Gifted education. I continue to enjoy history and literature through teaching and learning each day.
I love reading on my Kindle, running (okay, let's be honest, fast walking), wandering around in nature, cooking alone with music, COFFEE, occasional Netflix binges, photography, thinking about where I would travel if I could, learning new things, and spending time with my husband and my two children, Zoe and Zac.
About My Class:
Middle school students in Guilford County are all provided with laptops. In the absence of textbooks, we must rely upon digital resources. Therefore, our class is greatly reliant upon Canvas as well as direct instruction and class activities. All course materials are found in the unit modules and students can easily access all assignments with detailed instructions and digital copies through our Canvas course. Interested parents can observe their students by creating a Canvas observer account in addition to regularly checking PowerSchool. Instructions are under "Helpful Resources".
We lament the helplessness of infancy; we fail to perceive that the race would have perished had not man begun by being a child. We are born weak, we need strength; helpless, we need aid; foolish we need reason. All that we lack at birth; all that we need when we come to man's estate, is the gift of education.
- Jean-Jacques Rousseau
