Ms. Dorie Hall

Dorie Hall is a native of Warren County, NC where she attended Warren County High School prior to graduating from the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. Ms. Hall holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Mathematics Education and a Master of Science degree in Adult Education from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.  She also earned a Post Master’s Certificate in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Ms. Hall is no stranger to school and district leadership, having spent six years as a math teacher and curriculum facilitator at Hairston Middle School in Guilford County Schools (GCS). Ms. Hall also served in GCS as a district math curriculum specialist as well as a K-12 math coach for the nine schools of the Enrichment Region.  

During this time, she worked at Ferndale as a math coach by providing weekly instructional coaching and support to all math teachers. Prior to joining the Ferndale family as assistant principal, Ms. Hall spent five years in Durham Public Schools as an assessment coordinator, middle school area facilitator, and professional development specialist. As an assessment coordinator Ms. Hall facilitated the development of district benchmark assessments and led a team of coaches in supporting schools with formative assessment practices and data analysis.  In her role as middle school area facilitator, Ms. Hall provided instructional support and professional learning for teachers, facilitators, and school administrators in the areas of math and science.

Ms. Hall is a big believer in teacher leadership and job-embedded professional development. As a professional development specialist, she was responsible for organizing and facilitating monthly professional development for K-12 instructional facilitators from all schools throughout the district. 

Ms. Hall strives to foster a learning environment where students are at the forefront of all decision making. With this is mind, she ensures teachers are highly equipped to prepare students not only for success in middle school, but also for high school and beyond. 

In her free time Ms. Hall enjoys shopping and dining out with her daughter Kennedi, reading, and going to the movies. Ms. Hall believes “the knowledge is in the room” and is honored to be a part of the team who will take teaching and learning to extraordinary levels at Ferndale Middle School.
