My name is Cara Fox and I have been teaching for 16 years. I have 4 children, 3 sons and a daughter. My sons all work in the culinary field and live in South Carolina, California and Texas respectively. My daughter was a Triangle Lake Montessori student and currently attends NC State.
Here in House 18 our peace curriculum is ongoing. All children are encouraged to be peacemakers and peacekeepers in and out of school. Our classroom expectations are based on 'respect', 'responsibility' and 'accountability'. When the children respect one another, respect the adults in the environment, respect the materials in the classroom and are responsible and accountable for their own actions, the classroom becomes a powerful place where true learning occurs. These simple, basic expectations provide a solid base for the children and allow the possibility of not only a harmonious environment, but one with a sense of order and balance as well.
I'm a firm believer in open lines of communication. I believe that when parents, teachers and children work together, beautiful things happen, and indeed beautiful things continue to happen here...
