Hello!  I am Rachel McConoughey and I have been the media specialist at NGMS since 2010, and I have been an educator since 2003.  I attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville (Go Vols!) and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for my Master's degree.  In addition to teaching 21st century skills to our students and running the media center, I provide technology support and maintain the school website as webmaster.  I enjoy working with our students in extra curricular activities, too - I lead the Battle of the Books team and also support the SPARK Leadership Club.  I am also very proud to say that I was selected as the Guilford Association of School Librarians Media Specialist of the Year for GCS in 2017.  In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, photography, cooking, and of course, reading!

I believe anyone can enjoy reading if you just find what interests you.  My goal is to provide resources for our students and teachers that they need to enhance their learning and teaching, as well as what is culturally relevant and also just what they enjoy!  I want our students to leave NGMS as critical thinkers and with the desire to be lifelong learners.
