Mrs. Janice Clark
Dear Incoming 7th Grade Families:
It’s hard to believe that it is almost time for the 2018-2019 school year to begin. I hope everyone had an enjoyable summer with family and friends. As the assistant principal of the 7th Grade team, I am extending a Tiger Pride welcome to our returning Tigers, as well as the new families joining our community this school year! Under the leadership of our proud principal, Mr. Ged O’Donnell and Assistant Principal R. Doug Foutty, we are committed to establishing an environment conducive to every student having the opportunity to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Teachers and administrators have been busy over the summer participating in professional development to improve the instructional opportunities of students. As a school staff, we will continue refining assessments, aligning instruction to the standards, monitoring student understanding, and providing parents with opportunities to stay abreast of what students are learning. Although our students continue to make significant growth, we remain committed to improving student learning. Regardless of a student’s level at the beginning of the school year, our goal is to help every student improve their critical thinking, knowledge, skills, and their ability to problem solve. Parent communication tools include, but are not limited to the POWERSCHOOL Parent Portal (grades and attendance), the Kiser Parent Sharepoint site (teacher’s weekly lesson focus), and student planners (assignments/parent communication). If at any time you have a question or concern about what is occurring in your student’s class, please feel free to contact us.
Students entering 7th grade are now required to have one dose of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccine and one dose of Meningococcal Conjugate vaccine for individuals who have not already received those vaccines.
Please contact your health care provider or local health department if your child needs these vaccines.
Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services (336)641-3245.
Parents have 30 calendar days from their first day of school to provide the required up-to-date immunization record for your child.
Please do not hesitate to call me with any questions you may have.
