8th grade Social Studies covers North Carolina history and geography within the larger context of American History. Beginning with basic North Carolina regions and geography and continuing through the history of our state and nation to the 21st century, this is a broad survey course.

We will offer a variety of teaching and writing strategies throughout the year. Assessments will be standard quizzes and test as well as oral and visual presentations to review content. Additionally news broadcast, with required note-taking, will be completed daily. At the end of the year students will take the North Carolina final Exam in Social Studies.
