Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. C. Hailey
First, I would like to say "Thank You" for allowing me to teach your student information required by the N.C... Essential Standards / Standard Course of Study. My goal is to provide your student with conditions in which they can learn information needed now and for the rest of their lives.
I am the Reproductive Health and Safety Education / Family Life Teacher for three middle schools in Guilford County. The three schools I serve are: 1) Kiser Middle 2) Northern Guilford Middle and 3) Northwest Guilford Middle. I am one of a total of seven Health Resource Teachers throughout Guilford County. I have been at Northern since the doors opened in 2006. Wow, I currently teach children of former students!
I have been teaching for nearly 30 years. Time sure does fly when you enjoy what you do! One pleasure of my job is, I have the opportunity of teaching "every" student in the schools that I serve.
I was the Health Education Coordinator for Asheboro City Schools prior to coming to Guilford County. My major job responsibility for that system was to create and implement a Family Life Curriculum for entire school system.
I am the former recipient of the North Carolina and Guilford County Schools "Health Educator of the Year" award. I strive to establish a partnership with parents to support student learning. To reinforce that partnership, all homework assignments in grades 7th and 8th require parent signatures. The parent signature requirement reminds students that parents are the primary sexuality educators of their child and my role is to assist in the education of that student.
Educate, Inspire, Learn and Change. "Education if the Key to Making a Difference".
"My Teacher Promise"
I promise to you as the parent, that everyday your child will learn something.
Some days they will bring it home in their hands.
Some days they will bring it home in their heads, and
Some days they will bring it home in their hearts.
Thank you once again for allowing me the opportunity to fulfill my "Teacher Promise".
Guilford County Schools already had one of the highest graduation rates among large districts in the state.
North Carolina's Graduation Rate is going up and
North Carolina's teen pregnancy rate is going down.
Guilford County saw further reductions in teen pregnancy rates in 2012. The great news is we are seeing a clear downward trend and it seems that many targeted interventions like the Family Life Program of Guilford County Schools and local agencies are making a difference.
