English I: This class is designed to promote literacy in an active, stimulating environment.  The ultimate goal is to provide students with the necessary literacy skills and strategies to increase reading and writing comprehension across the curriculum.  We will also improve vocabulary, grammar and writing skills while studying various literary genres.  Students will feel better prepared for the increased rigor of 10th grade & the EOC Reading/ Writing Test given at the end of the 10^th grade.  Students will also read many books independently this year.  In the end, the goal is to instill in students that they can be a productive, contributing member of society and work hard towards their future goals. 

Education in America: Honors Teacher Cadet I & II: The North Carolina Teacher Cadet Program started in 1997 when the North Carolina Association of Educators wanted to initiate a school-based teacher recruitment program.  The belief is that we have a great resource in our very own students right here in Guilford County who can contribute to the future of education in their own communities.  Students are able to experience learning, the classroom, and the teaching profession in a way that will be fun, innovative, and an experience they can take with them into any field of education or working with youth.
