  • Laptop Repair Information

If you are having issues with your laptop not working properly, please remember to follow the four troubleshooting steps before doing anything else.  If that doesn't resolve the issue, fill out a SWMS Laptop Tech Ticket HERE, shut your laptop down, and place it in the Laptop Drop-off Bin just inside the media center doors.  Ms. James, our media specialist, will then look at your laptop at her earliest convenience.  If she can repair your laptop, she will repair it and notify your Core teachers that your laptop is ready for pickup as soon as possible.  If she cannot repair it, she will submit a GCS tech ticket for the district to send someone out to pick it up and take it to the GCS technology department for repair.  Most of the time, they can repair it there, but sometimes, laptops need to be sent to yet another location to be repaired.  As Ms. James is the only staff member who works on laptops at SWMS, and there are less than 10 GCS staff members who work on laptops, computers, computer peripherals and audiovisual equipment for the entire school district, repairs often take time and patience is greatly appreciated.  Ms. James makes sure teachers are notified of the return of students' laptops as soon as possible.

*Please note that laptops that are turned in without a repair ticket submitted through the links on this page or the link found on the school's homepage under Quick Links will not be assessed for repair due to time constraints and Ms. James numerous other responsibilities as the school's sole media center staff member.
