    Hello and welcome to my webpage! I'm Mr. Dove and have been teaching Automotive at Weaver since 2007. Prior to Weaver I worked for 25 years in the Automotive Repair Industry and have been ASE Master certified for over 25 years. The Automotive program at Weaver is ASE Education Foundation (formerly NATEF) accredited and designed for those interested in a career in the Automotive Field. Many students, when in Auto II and III and meet the requirements, will choose to work an Automotive Apprenticeship or Work Based learning while taking the course.

    Introduction to Automotive Service
    Course Number: IT11
    Recommended Maximum Enrollment: 20*

    Description:
    This course introduces basic automotive skills in Service & Safety, Engine Repair, Automatic Transmissions & Transaxles, Manual Drivetrain and Axles and job opportunities in the auto repair industry. As part of the NATEF accreditation, topics are aligned to the Maintenance and Light Repair (MLR) requirements. English language arts are reinforced. Work-based learning strategies appropriate for this course include job shadowing. Apprenticeship and cooperative education are not available for this course. SkillsUSA competitive events, community service, and leadership activities provide the opportunity to apply essential standards and workplace readiness skills through authentic experiences.

As part of the NATEF accreditation, topics are aligned to the Maintenance and Light Repair (MLR) requirements. English language arts are reinforced. Work-based learning strategies appropriate for this course include apprenticeship, cooperative education, entrepreneurship, internship, and job shadowing.     Automotive Service II

    Prerequisite: Automotive Service I
    Description:
    This course builds on the knowledge and skills introduced in Automotive Servicing I and develops advanced knowledge and skills in vehicle system repair and/or replacement of components in the brakes, electrical systems, drivetrain, engine, HVAC and steering & suspension systems, emphasizing hands-on experience. As part of the NATEF accreditation, topics are aligned to the Maintenance and Light Repair (MLR) requirements. English language arts are reinforced. Work-based learning strategies appropriate for this course include job shadowing, apprenticeship, cooperative education, entrepreneurship, internship, and job shadowing. This course helps prepare students for the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in Maintenance and Light Repair (MLR- G1).
