Outreach messages include, but are not limited to, information regarding medical issues, report cards, schedule changes, picture day, upcoming exams, Open House, scholarships and other special events. Career Day and Culture Fair

This is Dr. Nixon-Green calling from High Point Central with a few updates.
Tuesday we will host a Career Fair. Students will have an opportunity to visit with employers from various industries to learn more about different career paths.
On Thursday, we will host an International Culture Fair during lunches.
As a reminder, Friday is a holiday and no school for students and staff and April 22-26th is spring break for student. Students will not have school that week.
May 1st has now been changed to a workday. Students will not have school on this day.
Applications to be in our yearbook class next school year are due by this Thursday, April 18th. Yearbook applications are available in our main office, our counseling office, and room T08.
All yearbook and senior tribute payments are due immediately to our main office or room T08. Please pay by cash or a check made out to "High Point Central." Or pay by credit card at k12paymentcenter.com for a small additional charge.
We only have six more 2019 yearbooks available to purchase for $85.00. Send in $85.00 immediately to our main office or room T08 to guarantee that your child will receive a copy of our 2019 yearbook. Or order online at jostensyearbooks.com or k12paymentcenter.com.

Concerts, FAFSA Breakfast, IB Parent Meeting

On Tuesday we will have an Orchestra concert at 5:30pm in our auditorium.
On Wednesday there will be a special FAFSA breakfast for parents with Ms. Ahmed our college advisor. Please come for information on completing your financial aid paperwork for college.
On Thursday we will have an IB Parent Meeting @ 5:30pm in the media center for all current junior and senior IB parents.

PTO, ACT, Teacher of the Year

As a reminder, our PTO meeting will be held tomorrow at 6pm in our Media center. All parents and students are welcome to attend.
All Juniors will take the ACT on February 20th .
Report cards were distributed on Friday. If you have any questions, please send contact the guidance department to schedule a conference.
And, congratulations to our recently announced teacher of the year, Ms. Nwabueze.

Report Cards and More!

Hello Bison Families,
This is Principal Nixon-Green calling from High Point Central with your updates for the week.
There will be a 9th grade parent night on Tuesday in the media center. Freshman parents will have an opportunity to receive their student’s report card early to ask questions and schedule conferences, if needed. As a reminder, we have 2 counselors dedicated to freshman this year including Ms. Eldridge and Mr. Rubenstein and the Freshman administrator is Mr. Glenn.
On Wednesday, we will host an interest meeting for students interested in participating in the Draelos Scholars program. This is a summer program for rising juniors and seniors interested in stem courses. Students will have an opportunity to work directly with professors at A & T state university as well UNC Greensboro on hands on research projects for 4-5 weeks during the summer. If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, but unable to attend please contact Ms. Norman Rogers for additional information.
Report cards for all students will be distributed on Wednesday. If you have any questions or would like to schedule a conference, please contact your child’s teacher of their guidance counselor should you need assistance.
Senior parents, Herff Jones will be on campus on November 14th during all of the lunches in the parlor and again on Saturday, November 17th from 10am-12. If students would like to order and use the orange “ONE STOP” form along with the triplicate Herff Jones order form, the deposit will be $60.00. Students do have the option to order only the cap and gown unit at $55.00. Students can purchase by mail or online. Prices will increase on December 1st . We have several packets in the counseling office if your student needs one.
Our group photo of the Class of 2019 will be taken on this Friday, November 16th, at 3:30 PM in our main gym.
If you have not already done so, this week is the perfect time to order our 2019 yearbook for $80 by turning in $10 to our main office or room 206 to lock into this price and then paying the rest by March 1st. You may also order online at jostensyearbooks.com, or you may make payments at k12paymentcenter.com. The price will later jump to $85, so be sure to lock into our $80 price now!
And great news, HPC has been selected as a GCS Signature School based on our recent and continuous academic progress. We’re one of 2 schools in the county to receive this honor and we contribute it to the dedication and hard work of our staff. Please help us spread the Great news- Go Bison

Senior Meeting

This is Principal Nixon-Green calling with a few announcements.
Today, your student attended a senior meeting and received important information including cap and gown ordering dates. Students can order cap and gowns and other graduation items on November 14th during lunch and November 17th from 10am until noon. Your student received an order form today. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Holden or Ms. Nwabueze at 336-819-2825.
Please also remember to attend our senior parent night on Wednesday at 5:30pm in the media center.

This is Principal Nixon-Green with your updates for the week.
As a reminder, we will have school on Thursday, November 1st. However Friday, November 2nd is a workday and students will not attend school.
Senior Parents:
Students will have a meeting on November 5th about important graduation dates and information related to graduation.
We will have a senior parent meeting on November 7th @ 5:30pm in the Media Center. An information card will be mailed this week with important dates.
Our graduation contacts this year are Ms. Nwabueze and Mr. Holden.

As you know, we strive to provide a safe learning environment for our staff and students. Earlier today, we discovered a student brought a BB gun onto campus. Fortunately, no one was threatened or harmed.
The incident has been reported to law enforcement and appropriate discipline actions have been taken.
We take this very seriously. Please talk to your students and remind them that weapons are not allowed on school property. Please also keep administration and our SROs informed of any suspicious behavior, threats and/or weapons on campus.

Yearbook, Photo Retakes, Fundraising, and more!

This is High Point Central calling with your updates for the week.
This Friday, October 19th, is the deadline for seniors to submit senior photos and baby photos to Mr. Floyd in room 206 or by email for our 2019 yearbook. October 19th is also the deadline to order your yearbook for $75.00 by turning in at least a $10.00 deposit to our main office or room 206 and then paying the rest by March. The price goes up to $80 after Friday. If you wish to order a senior tribute in our yearbook, you must turn in a $20.00 deposit to our main office or room 206 by October 19th. Please contact Mr. Floyd if you have any questions about yearbooks, photos, or senior tributes.
9th, 10th, and 11th graders who need to have their school photos taken or retaken must sign up in our main office by this Friday to be scheduled on Wednesday, October 24th.
You should have received your fundraising letter from the PTO in the mail by now. Our PTO is only asking for monetary donations and this is the only fundraiser for the year. Some of you have already sent in donations, and we thank you for your generous contributions. If you haven’t yet, please consider sending in a donation, large or small. Any amount will help. All money collected will directly benefit our students, teachers, and school.
Bison Warriors is a student led organization dedicated to assisting the victims of Hurricane Florence. Starting October 15th they will be collecting items such as school supplies, non-perishable food, clothing, toiletries, water, baby food and baby clothing to donate to those in need. Students can bring in donations to their first period teacher or the main office. Any donation is greatly appreciated in our effort in achieving our goal.
As a reminder, homecoming activities will occur during our game on Friday.

Homecoming Festivities Postponed

This is principal Nixon-Green calling from High Point Central with a special announcement.
Our football game tonight will continue as planned. We play at 7:30pm this evening at Simeon stadium. Our homecoming festivities however have been postponed until next Friday’s game.
Again, we will have a football game this evening at 7:30pm, but no homecoming festivities. I hope to see you this evening at Simeon stadium cheering on our student athletes.
