As Sumner Elementary School works to become a better institution for learning, we know that is an imperative to reach out to others in our community for support and build long lasting partnerships. Sumner's ultimate goal is finding new and inventive ways to enrich the lives of our students.  It is important to start at an early age in order to help students realize the importance of a good education.  We strive to recruit positive role models from the community to help our students.  Volunteering at Sumner can come in many ways and fashions and is a very rewarding experience.  The duty of a role model at our school varies from person to person.  There are many ways one can volunteer.  Below are just a few.  

• Lunch buddy
• Breakfast buddy
• Volunteer to read with students
• Shadow an assigned student
• Volunteer to help in a classroom assisting a teacher
• Tutor students
• Help with field day
• Become a mentor
• Guest speaker
• School beautification
• Proctoring for testing
