As principal of Greensboro College Middle College since August 2014, I take pride in working with such an exceptional group of students, teachers and parents. GCMC has a long history of providing students with the support and academic rigor they need to graduate high school with the skills needed to be college and career ready.
Since earning my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Winston-Salem State University, I have gained 25 years of experience as an educator at the elementary, middle and high school levels. I began teaching in elementary school in Newport News, VA, and later transitioned to middle school as a science and math teacher.
After taking on many leadership roles as a teacher, I pursued a Master’s Degree in School Administration at Cambridge College, in Boston, MA. I became an assistant principal for Guilford County Schools at Allen Jay Middle School, and then, principal at Triangle Lake Montessori Elementary. During my eight-year tenure at Triangle Lake, I was named 2009-2010 Elementary Principal of the Year and Guilford County Schools’ District Principal of the Year. I also earned a Specialist Degree in Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Aside from my role as principal, I am the mother of a wonderful young man. I am a huge basketball fan, an avid reader and love to travel and shop in my spare time.
As an educator, I truly believe that all children can learn. Great educators can bring out the best in students. Good educators deliver material, but great educators deliver a message; a message of hope and inspiration to students to believe in themselves; to believe that they are capable of succeeding if they try and never give up.
