Dr. Ashauna Harris
I am a native North Carolinian from a family of educators who is supported by my husband and three children. My educational studies have afforded me BA and BS degrees from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and MSA, Ed. S., and Ed. D. degrees from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. My first ten years in education was spent as a high school English teacher, Magnet Coordinator, and Assistant Principal within Guilford County Schools in North Carolina before continuing my advocacy for children as the principal of John Marshall Community High School in Indianapolis (2014-2016).
As the new principal of the New Welborn Academy of Science and Technology, I am excited about leading the joint effort of the school family and the community family to improve the educational and life outcomes of students. There is much work to be done and I happily and unapologetically share that the task has just started but that Welborn Academy will be victorious and successful. The students and community of High Point depend on it.
To improve the educational experience and community by maximizing achievement: one student …one family…one teacher at a time.
“The question is not whether we can afford to invest in every child; it is whether we can afford not to.” ~ Marian Wright Edelman
