• My name is Katie Miller, and I am the School Nurse for Western Guilford High School.  I graduated from Winston-Salem State University with my bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2007.  I have been working as a nurse since 2007, predominantly with children from birth through age 18, in the hospital setting.  In January 2023, I became a school nurse through the Guilford County Public Health Department, and I don’t plan on turning back!  School nursing has become my passion, and I love getting to know and work with not just our students but their families as well.  During the school day, I care for sick or injured students, help manage medications that need to be administered while at school and provide case management and resources for students who have chronic health conditions.  I also work closely with administration throughout the year to keep up with immunization and health assessment needs of students, train staff to be First Responders for emergencies in school and provide updates to staff on students who may have health-related issues during class.  Working for the Health Department also allows me to have access to numerous resources beyond health-related concerns.  If you or your student have any questions or needs, please feel free to contact me at the school, by email at millerk8@gcsnc.com or by cell at 336-646-4435.  I work 8am-4pm Monday-Friday.
