•  I am a native of High Point, NC and have always been interested in literature and writing. I obtained a bachelor’s degree from the illustrious North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (AGGIE PRIDE!!!) in Professional English in 2009 and a MAT degree in English, Secondary Education in 2012. I currently serve as a licensed 6-12 English/Language Arts teacher, and have a wealth of experience in alternative, charter, magnet and charters schools in North Carolina.  As an English teacher for 8 years, my passion for African American Literature has flourished.  After completing the English and African American Literature Master in Arts program(also from A&T), I plan to work towards achieving a PhD in Education or African American Literature, furthering my research, hoping to one day create an African American folkloric curriculum for secondary schools. When I am not busy reading and writing, I also enjoy singing and watching NBA basketball with my family! (We are huge LeBron James fans)!
